QIN Ling was awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa by Semmelweis University in Hungary

On November 20th, Semmelweis University (SU) held its 50th Doctor Honoris Causa award ceremony at the Semmelweis Salon, celebrating distinguished scholars who have made significant contributions to their fields and fostered close collaborations with the university.

Among the recipients was Professor Qin Ling, the founding director and chief scientist of the Center for Translational Medicine Research and Development at the Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the Choh-Ming Li Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Qin is one of only two Chinese scholars to ever receive this prestigious honor and the only Chinese scholar recognized this year.

During the ceremony, Dr. Benyó Zoltán, chairperson of the doctoral committee, highlighted Professor Qin’s outstanding contributions. "Professor Qin has dedicated several decades to the field of musculoskeletal science, making notable contributions to medical education, advancing the discipline, and driving technological innovation," Dr. Benyó said, "His work has profoundly impacted both academic and clinical practices, particularly in orthopaedics and traumatology."

The Honorary Doctoral Scheme, established in 1895, has awarded this prestigious honor to 352 scholars worldwide. This year, a total of 13 internationally renowned professors from Hungary, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands were honored.
