Former Vice President
The vice-president of the first leadership team (2009.10 — 2014.10), and the deputy leader of the preparatory construction group. Received his bachelor's and master's degree from Zhejiang University at 1982 and 1984 respectively, and received his doctor’s degree at University of Pennsylvania. From 1989 to 1997, he was teaching computer science in Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. Since 1997, he went to Chinese University Hong Kong, as associate professor, professor, and lecture professor. Professor XU research fields are space robot, intelligent system and control, man-machine interface. He designed and developed more than 30 robots and intelligent systems, these include: Space Station stepping robot, single wheeled gyro stabilized robot, split lunar robot, family service robot, wearable human-machine interface and omnidirectional steering hybrid vehicle. Professor XU chaired more than 30 research and development projects funded by the government and the business community. On the basis of these large numbers of research work, Professor Xu published 3 monographs, 1 books, 93 international journal papers, 193 international academic papers and 10 essays. He is the academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, the communications academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, the academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and IEEE fellow.
